Our Story, Our Heart
The people and philosophy that make Copperleaf a home, not just a care facility.
← Back to HomeHow Copperleaf Began
Copperleaf was born from a conversation between two colleagues in Singapore's eldercare sector who felt that something important was being lost in the way residential care was delivered. The buildings were functional, the medical protocols sound — but the warmth, the sense of belonging, the gentle rhythms of a well-lived day were often missing. They wanted to build a home where the evening of life could feel genuinely welcoming.
Situated along Sengkang East Way, Copperleaf opened its doors with a small team and a clear intention: to create a care environment shaped around the individual, not around institutional convenience. From the outset, the layout was designed to encourage both community and solitude — shared dining spaces alongside quiet reading corners, a sheltered garden with lantern-lit pathways for those who enjoy an evening stroll.
Over the years, the home has grown steadily — not by expanding rapidly, but by deepening the quality of what it offers. Every new programme, from the Companion Care Stay to the Lantern Walk Evening Programme, emerged from listening carefully to residents and families about what would genuinely help. This remains the guiding principle at Copperleaf: to listen first, then care.
Our Mission
To offer elderly care that respects each person's story, values their independence, and creates a daily life filled with small comforts, meaningful company, and the dignity that every person deserves — especially in the later chapters of life.
The People Behind Copperleaf
Our leadership team brings together experience in nursing, social work, and eldercare management — united by a shared belief in compassionate, person-centred care.
Margaret Lim
Director of Care
Margaret spent two decades in geriatric nursing before founding Copperleaf. She oversees all clinical and day-to-day care, and is often found chatting with residents in the garden.
David Tan
Operations Manager
David manages the daily running of Copperleaf, from staffing and logistics to maintenance and safety. His background in healthcare administration keeps the home running smoothly and safely.
Siti Nurhaliza
Programme Coordinator
Siti designs and leads the activities and programmes, including the Lantern Walk evenings. A qualified social worker, she brings energy and sensitivity to every session she facilitates.
Standards We Uphold
Our approach to quality is not about ticking boxes — it is about consistent care that residents and families can rely on every day.
MOH Licensed
Copperleaf is licensed by Singapore's Ministry of Health under the Private Hospitals and Medical Clinics Act, meeting all regulatory requirements for residential care facilities.
Qualified Nursing Staff
All nursing staff hold valid registrations with the Singapore Nursing Board. Ongoing training is part of our operating culture, not an occasional exercise.
Safety Protocols
Regular fire drills, fall-prevention measures, emergency response plans, and daily safety checks are standard at Copperleaf. Every staff member is trained in first aid and emergency procedures.
Nutritional Care
Meals are prepared with attention to both nutrition and enjoyment. We accommodate dietary needs, cultural preferences, and individual appetites — because meals should be something to look forward to.
Privacy & Dignity
Residents' personal information is handled in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act. More broadly, respect for privacy and individual dignity informs every aspect of daily care.
Care Plan Reviews
Each resident's care plan is reviewed regularly with input from families, nurses, and the resident themselves. Adjustments are made as needs evolve — because good care responds, it does not remain static.
What Guides Us Every Day
At Copperleaf, we do not believe in one-size-fits-all care. Every senior who walks through our doors has lived a full and particular life, and our role is to honour that — not to replace their identity with a label. This means taking time to learn how someone prefers their tea, what music lifts their spirits, whether they like the window open at night, or which stories they most enjoy sharing.
Singapore's ageing population presents both a challenge and an invitation. The challenge is practical: how do we provide enough quality care for a growing number of seniors? The invitation is deeper: how do we do so in a way that preserves warmth, dignity, and genuine human connection? Copperleaf was established in response to that second question. We are a small home by design, because knowing each person well requires a scale where that remains possible.
Our team is trained not only in clinical skills but in the quieter arts of eldercare — patience, attentive listening, gentleness with routine. We believe that a well-cared-for evening of life is not defined by the number of activities offered or the modernity of the building, but by whether a person feels safe, known, and at ease. That is the measure we hold ourselves to.
